Another activity that can be practised in Vistrahda is the collection of various slabs and the exploring of the associated labyrinths. Once you have reached a certain point in the game, Drauk Miura will speak to you, tell you about these labyrinths and hand you one each of Copper Beast, Scale and Beetle slabs.

While fighting in Labyrinths you only acquire the loot you obtained after leaving. After each miniboss and before the last boss you have the option to leave the labyrinth and obtain all the loot you've acquired. These are the only points you can leave the Labyrinth, so before you enter, make sure you have enough healing items and the right weapons for the slabs you are putting down (see below). If you run out of respawns inside the labyrinth and have to respawn at your last save or at your last warp point then you will lose all of the items you could have acquired.

Locations[]

There are three Labyrinths in the game. Desert Labyrinth, Woodsea Labyrinth and Canyon Labyrinth.

Desert Labyrinth[]

The Desert Labyrinth is located in Rubble Tunnel, near to the warp point. It is the first Labyrinth entered and does not require any special skills to enter.

Woodsea Labyrinth[]

The Woodsea labyrinth is found in the Sandfall Channel in a room to the Southwest and requires the skill Green Gale at level 3 to access.

Canyon Labyrinth[]

The Canyon Labyrinth can be found by travelling North through Arrid Ravine and requires you to have the key item 'Eye of Truth' to open the door leading to the entrance.

Slabs[]

Slabs are items used to enter a Labyrinth. One slab will already be in place on the stone plate in front of the door, you must place three other slabs in the slots to open the door and enter. Using a specific type of slab will increase the chances of encountering different types of enemies, but the monsters you find in the Labyrinth are random every time.

Random monsters you encounter in the Labyrinth start with a base level of 1 or 2, which is then increased depending on what slabs you used to enter. Bronze slabs increase monster levels by 1 each, Silver slabs by 3, and Gold slabs by 6.

For example:

If the stating slab is bronze and you place three more bronze slabs then the monster levels will be 5 or 6

If the starting slab is gold and you place three more gold slabs then the monster levels will be 25 or 26

Minibosses start with a base level or 2-4 meaning a lowest possible level of 6 and a highest of 28.

Bosses have a base level of 6, meaning a lowest level of 10 and a highest of 30.

Rare Bosses fought at the end (taking place of regular bosses) do not display their level, instead, appearing as level '?'

Rooms[]

Inside each Labyrinth are a number of colored rooms. Each color has a different function, but which color does what is different each time you enter the Labyrinth. You can also only pass through each room once, unless you walk into a dead end, in which case you will be able to return to the previous room. It is possible to visit every single room in each Labyrinth.

There are six types of room:

  • No special features: The door to this room will appear the same color as the walls, 'blank'.
  • Battle Room: In this room you have to fight enemies and defeat the Chest to unlock the door. Further details below. Sometimes the Battle Room contained an hourglass that initially will provide stat boosts to the enemy, but when you hit it will provide stat boosts for you and your team for a short time instead.
  • Trap Room: The room will be empty at first (barring a few sand piles or cacti), however,, when buttons in the wall are pressed you will either spawn monsters, activate a trap (that you cannot damage), deactivate a trap if it was active before you started pressing buttons or unlock the door. You can only press each button once and if you unlock the door first try, you can press the other buttons if you want.
  • Treasure Room: A number of chests can be found inside the room. One of the chests is a fake that will cause all the other chests to disappear and spawn an enemy in the room with you. Opening all the real chests will case the fake chest to disappear. The door to this room is not locked, so you can progress without opening any chests if you choose to do so.
  • Heal Room: There is a device inside this room containing an orb of water that will fully heal the party. Be warned though, this device can only be used once.
  • Miniboss Room: These rooms are easily noticed by the door. Instead of a colored door like the others, this one will have a symbol of one of the enemy classes on it, glowing. Once you enter the miniboss area at the end of the room barriers will appear at each of the four compass points, trapping you and the miniboss in an arena. You must defeat it to proceed. When defeated the door will open and a symbol in the middle of the arena will give you the option of leaving the Labyrinth early.

There is also a boss room at the end of the Labyrinth but that's standard of all game dungeons.

Battle Rooms[]

Inside the Battle Room there is a Chest. There are three types of chest, Chaos, Mennace and Abyssal. The Chaos Chest will only spawn a first stage enemy, the Mennace chest will spawn either a first or second stage enemy, and the Abyssal chest will spawn either a first, second or third stage enemy.

The Chest will spawn the first time very quickly and produce 2-3 enemies before vanishing. Every time after that it will appear as a point of black smoke on the ground (standing on top of this smoke will prevent the chest from spawning there and the smoke will vanish, reappearing somewhere else). A small vortex of Chaos will appear on the ground and the Chest will rise up out of it. You have several seconds to attack it before the lid begins to rattle and the Chest becomes invincible to all attacks. The lid will then lift off and spawn an enemy. The chest will not appear if there are more than 2 enemies in the room so to make it spawn you must kill the enemies it has spawned before.

If you manage to do a third of the Chest's HP it will disappear back into the ground without spawning anything. Once the chest is defeated, the door will unlock. A larger room may have 2 chests, though only one will spawn at once. The amount of items and experience points acquired from a Chest is set, not cumulative. You do not gain additional items or experience from killing more spawns.

The Enemies found in each Labyrinth are as follows:

Desert Labyrinth:

  • Beetle: Petrasnatcher, Sandmite, Shadorach
  • Beast: Leapard, Sandrat, Razortooth
  • Scale: Sharkobra, Sandviper, Sorropent

Boss and Miniboss[]

Partway through the Labyrinth you will encounter a miniboss. There is 1 in Desert Labyrinth, 2 in Woodsea Labyrinth and 2 in Canyon Labyrinth. After defeating the Miniboss you have the chance to warp out of the Labyrinth early through a warp point in the centre of the arena. There is a chance of spawning a Chaos Seedling here instead of the usual miniboss.

In each Labyrinth there is a Boss Battle at the end. In all three there is a chance to spawn a Chaos Duo, which contains and two Chaos Seedlings, Chaos Lagora, Chaos Drauk or Chaos Serkah.

While the monsters fought inside a Labyrinth are random, using specific types of slabs increase chances of fighting that type of enemy. Using four of the same type of slab increases chances of spawning a Rare Spawn enemy for the final boss.

The Superboss of each Labyrinth will only spawn if you have used at least 1 Gold Slab.

Desert Labyrinth[]

In Desert Labyrinth, there is one miniboss arena. This will either be a Bebilet (Beetle Class), Tigret (Beast Class), Rinkhal (Scale Class), Violet Geist (Winged Class) or Guilty Egg (Wrath Class).

  • Note: Any combination of Slabs used to enter the Canyon Labyrinth can result in fighting a Cuttleslug, Octocrast, Anemonest, or Krafgufa (rare enemy) as the end boss.

The Lithographs[]

The special slabs are three special slabs you need to get to a specific area throughout the story. These are Quest Items obtained during the main storyline.

Special-Door: Sanctuary of Light[]

The Sanctuary of Light, has a Slab gate, like the Labyrinths. Unlike the Labyrinths, however, here are the three special Slabs, the Yellow Lithograph, the Magenta Lithograph and the Aqua Lithograph used. As soon as you own these you will be asked if you want to use them to enter the Sanctuary of Light. You have to do this to restore the shine to the three Crystals, to get the white quartz. This dungeon is part of the story and can not be skipped.
